AWESOME - WENT TWICE

I went with my best friend and Goddaughter and liked it SOOO much that I managed to get second row tickets for my 8 years old grandson and myself. We LOVED it! You must go if you get the opportunity. "Things" fade away but experiences bind us together. Go!

OUTSTANDING

I do not have a great experience in live performances, only can say that after 10 min the play started I was transported to the story, I was absolutely surprised about the songs and the different twist to original story. Went with my 6 years old , who has ADD and he was engaged the whole time, we loved! Is a must!

STAGE ADDS INTERESTING PERSPECTIVE FOR WIZARD MOVIE WATCHERS

The Wizard of Oz is a very enjoyable rendition of the ago-old story of Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tinman, Cowardly Lion and the rest. There are a few new songs to become acquainted with. The acting was excellent across the board. Toto received the largest applause by far. We all wondered how he could always come to the right place, on or off stage, every single time. Dorothy's voice and energy are excellent. The special effects to show the tornadoes, movement of the house where Dorothy lived, and the perceived distance between Oz and Kansas were very well done. The play seemed to fascinate both children and adults.

VERY IMPRESSED!

Saw the evening performance on May 10th. I have seen many plays, tons of versions of OZ movies, I've seen Wicked twice and the 2 people with me have read lots of the OZ books. The play was great. Some small changes from the movie but mostly good changes and fun and funny. Some of the "personality added" I did not care for as much- Glenda and the Lion and Scare Crow. But the other people with me loved the Scare Crow. Over all very quality show and very very enjoyable!!!

ENJOYED THE NIGHT OUT WITH THE FAMILY

A gorgeous night with perfect weather outside for the Starlight helped make this a very enjoyable evening out with the family. The new songs were great but not as good as hearing the originals. Danielle Wade was perfect in the role of Dorothy with a beautiful voice and tone. Scarecrow was hamming it up and very funny and Tin man seemed to be channeling the movie but Lion was a bit of a dud compared to the movie. Costumes, lighting and set were all excellent and I loved the projection effects. Sound was a bit off with some lines being soft to rock concert loud at points and OZ had way too much echo effect it was difficult to understand him. My wife and I agreed the casting for Auntie Em was not a good choice but the rest of the cast were very good and entertaining. It was a bit too long as the ending seemed padded and the kids lost interest but the rest of the show the kids seemed enthralled. We left that night feeling happy we had seen the show and the kids really had fun.

SKIP THIS ONE...

I know it's hard to up the ante when dealing with the amazing technicolor movie or a production of The Wiz. However, this stage production didn't seem to try too hard. The sets and staging were simply 'okay' and the number of times I could see the backstage light board or the crew working behind the dropped screen were too numerous. Dropped lines, a rainbow set piece that became distracting, lackluster costumes, awkward pauses...you get the idea. When a musical meant for children doesn't interest an 11 year old, it's a dud.

SNOOZE FEST

This is not Joseph caliber nor is it captivating like Wicked. Money would be better spent buying the DVD of Joseph. Better yet splurge and go see Wicked. Came into it with an open mind left very disappointed. Scenes you wanted to see are missing, none of the characters were endearing and the lion character was disgraceful from the costume to the total demeanor.I did not leave with any desire to purchase soundtrack or any merchandise. There was no song or tune that stuck with me. Would suggest a total re-write. Yuk, couldn't wait to leave....

SKIP THIS ONE....

Very underwhelming sets and costumes. The music was very one note and some of the dances seemed to go on way too long. I love ballet and have seen many but this one was eh.

FIRST TIME I’VE LEFT AT INTERMISSION…

I had such high hopes for this production, but it was a major disappointment. This is the first time in my life I’ve left at intermission. I watched others around me leave even earlier. The cast was so talented, but this was a poor showcasing of their abilities. The whole show was chaotic, disorganized and so hard to follow. Recommend to skip this one!!
